Senior Wildlife Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wildlife Officer to join our team at Dreamworld Corroboree, one of the largest native wildlife parks in Southeast Queensland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional animal care for a selection of our captive bird and mammal collection, ensuring their enclosures and exhibits are maintained to the highest standard.
  • Conduct daily feeding, cleaning, breeding, record keeping, and treatments for the animals in your care.
  • Prepare procedures and reports to ensure the smooth operation of the wildlife team.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement general safety management practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Interact with guests, including assisting with wildlife talks, presentations, and managing feedback.
  • Liaise with external partners and affiliations to promote the conservation of Australian native fauna.
  • Support management in the leadership of the Wildlife team, including training, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Assist with public relations and marketing promotional activities to promote the park's conservation efforts.
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge and extensive experience working with Australian native fauna, specifically birds and mammals.
  • Ability to share knowledge and train, mentor, and develop fellow team members.
  • Animal husbandry qualifications or progressive study towards a Certificate in Wildlife and Exhibited Animals.
  • Leadership experience is desirable.
  • Flexibility with working hours across a 7-day roster, including weekend work.
  • A current manual driver's license is required.

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to perform animal husbandry tasks and manual handling. Sound written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with a diverse range of people from differing cultures.
