The Role of a Body Fabricator

Re-Car is Australia's largest network of heavy vehicle accident repair workshops and has been servicing the Australian Transport Industry for over 50 years.

From modest beginnings in Sunshine, Victoria, Re-Car has grown to an operation covering the nation's major transport routes up and down the Eastern seaboard. With modern repair workshops in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Townsville.

We are seeking a skilled Body Fabricator to join our team at Re-Car Brisbane.

As a Body Fabricator, you will be responsible for fabricating and installing new components and parts, including bodywork, onto the chassis of commercial vehicles using welding techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine the most suitable approach to restore damaged vehicles to their original condition.
  • Maintain the integrity of the chassis crush and ensure its proper usage.
  • Treat company equipment with the same respect as personal tools.
  • Communicate additional parts required beyond initial estimates to the Parts Interpreter.
  • Collaborate with other workshop workers to optimize workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Notify colleagues of product shortages that may impact production.
  • Daily review schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Requirements:

  1. Trade-qualified individual.
  2. Proficiency in welding techniques and metal fabrication.
  3. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  4. Problem-solving skills to address issues that arise during work.
  5. Mechanical knowledge to effectively maintain and use tools.
  6. Aptitude for technical activities.
