TRA Assessor – Mechanical

The opportunity exists for skilled Mechanical Engineering Technicians or Engineering Patternmakers to become TRA Assessors in evaluating candidates' competence in mechanical system design, maintenance, manufacturing processes, and patternmaking.

This role allows you to stay connected to your trade while shaping the future of the workforce as a TRA Assessor.

About the Role

As a TRA Assessor – Mechanical & Engineering Trades, you will assess applicants in areas such as:

  • Designing and maintaining mechanical systems
  • Applying manufacturing processes and CNC machining
  • Ensuring compliance with workshop safety and industry standards
Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Trades, or equivalent qualification
  • A Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or successor)
  • Minimum 2 years in mechanical maintenance, CNC machining, or precision manufacturing
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, precision measuring instruments, and patternmaking (metal/wood)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing tolerances, materials science, and workshop safety
Mandatory Requirements

It is mandatory to have:

  • TRA approval for each occupation covered
  • Current industry engagement evidence
  • A National Police Check
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not essential:

  • A Working With Children Check
  • A valid Driver's Licence
