Ministerial & Parliamentary Officer Role

This role contributes to the coordination and management of services for the Minister for Indigenous Australians. Working in the team, you are part of a well-supported group and will see firsthand how your work makes a positive contribution.

You will provide professional assistance and services to stakeholders and team members. Decisions are made under defined parameters, and suggestions for process improvements within the team or branch can be offered.

The APS 4 role may include:

  • Process and manage ministerial correspondence
  • Assist with enquiries from external agencies and stakeholders
  • Exercise discretion and judgement
  • Contribute to the improvement of guidelines and provide advice
  • Coordinate briefs and information requests
  • Contribute to a culture aligned with NIAA values.

The APS5 role, along with the above, may include some, or all, of the following:

  • Assist with the management of the administration and maintenance of the NIAA's Parliamentary Document Management System tenant
  • Assist with the management of Ministerial and Executive correspondence
  • Engage with stakeholders around handling ministerial items
  • Assist with time-critical ministerial reporting
  • Assist with the management of Questions on Notice
  • Coordinate the Agency's appearance at Senate Estimates hearings and Committee Inquiries
  • Undertake quality assurance processes for ministerial correspondence and briefs including courier duties
  • Plan and implement small-scale projects in the team

Our ideal candidate has attention to detail, a sound working knowledge of ministerial and parliamentary processes, and experience in coordinating material on PDMS and/or the Digital First System. We require effective interpersonal skills, drive, and first-rate judgement. A baseline security clearance is also required.
