Support Logistics Operations

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a skilled Administration Officer to support the 2 DIV Head Quarters Logistics Cell located at Dundas Barracks, Sydney. As an Administration Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the logistics cell with administrative and business support work.

You will be accountable for understanding and complying with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policies requirements.

You will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with Army financial, travel and personnel administration, as well as handle and file documents in Obj. Additionally, you may be required to provide some limited supervision and support to Defence employees at lower classifications, as well as providing on-the-job training to team members.

Responsibilities will include preparing products such as PowerPoint briefs and printing materials for meetings, supporting the team with booking travel and car hire for upcoming site visits around Australia, maintaining task trackers and registers, and ensuring SharePoint pages have up-to-date information.

With flexibility in working hours that can be discussed with the COL, it is expected that 8 hours per day from 8am - 4pm are achieved. However, there may be instances where additional hours are required due to operational tempo or short-notice tasks.

The team will assign a mentor to guide you and facilitate a healthy, happy and professional outcome. Our team is friendly and welcoming, focusing on overall logistics across Australia, and engaging in social activities that promote a positive work environment.

While experience in the military and Army would be beneficial, particularly in logistics environments, a good understanding of logistics and high-level management of people and equipment is essential. Additionally, strong computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills, experience and understanding of general business administration processes and functions would be advantageous.
