Family Contact Facilitator and Mentor

As a Family Contact Facilitator and Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing supervised birth family contact to children and young people in out-of-home care.

The position requires you to plan, supervise, and report on contact visits, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all parties involved.

This is a casual opportunity based in Blacktown, NSW, within our Permanency Support Program. You will work closely with trained staff to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate supervised contact visits between children and their birth families
  • Supervise and support the interactions between children and their birth families
  • Report on contact visits to relevant authorities and stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the best interests of children are met

Requirements:

  • Diploma in a child-related field
  • Experience in supervised contact, out-of-home care, or a related field
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma, and child abuse indicators
  • Ability to manage challenging behavior and prevent/de-escalate crises

  • Valid driver's license
