Energy Lawyer Job

We are seeking a proactive and motivated projects or energy lawyer to support a dynamic and growing legal team.

  • This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of transactional and regulated legal matters in a company driving Australia's transition to net zero.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of energy or infrastructure transactions in Australia, as well as proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence outcomes.

This role will give you the chance to engage in impactful work with constant opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the negotiation, drafting and review of commercial contracts such as EPC contracts, supply and install contracts, balance of plant contracts, PPAs/offtake agreements, connection agreements, and O&M agreements.
  • Advise on land acquisitions, planning approvals, and general commercial matters including NDAs, consultancy agreements, services agreements, and disputes.
  • Provide support and manage external counsel.
  • Advise on regulatory matters such as FIRB, Australian Financial Services Licences and Critical Infrastructure.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, including the development of precedent contracts, adoption of new processes, and delivering training to the team.
Requirements
  • Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
  • Practising as a projects or energy lawyer for 4-8 years in private practice or in-house.
  • Strong understanding of energy or infrastructure transactions in Australia.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated.
  • Strong problem-solving, commercial, and communication skills.
  • Thrives in dynamic and evolving environments.
