Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Sportsfield Team Manager to oversee the maintenance, improvement, and long-term planning of our sporting facilities.

  • Manage and maintain Council's sportsfields to a high standard ensuring excellent turf quality, efficient irrigation systems, and effective maintenance practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on turf management, irrigation systems, and sportsfield upkeep to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a skilled team to achieve programmed works effectively and efficiently.
  • Coordinate contractors, plant, and materials to deliver sustainable outcomes for our sportsfields.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure sportfields, turfs, and irrigation systems are maintained and renovated as per legislation, standards, and policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare quotations and designs for irrigation systems, turf maintenance, renovation programs, and associated assets.
  • Work in conjunction with the Parks and Natural Environment leadership team to provide input, advice, and guidance on projects, service delivery, and planning initiatives.
Requirements
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in sportsfield management or a related field.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve objectives, manage complex issues, and interact with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in Local Government operations or similar sectors, with a focus on sportsfield management, turf maintenance, and irrigation systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including strategic planning, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to craft clear and concise reports for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with Australian legislative codes and practices regarding sportsfield construction and maintenance.
