Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic - Opportunity to Develop a Career
Job Description:This apprenticeship provides hands-on and theoretical training in mechanical activities, allowing you to contribute positively to the objectives of the Works and Service Business Unit.
As an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will participate in practical activities, servicing and repairing vehicles and mechanical equipment, while also gaining knowledge of heavy commercial vehicle mechanical technology.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and mechanical equipment
- Participate in on-the-job training and off-the-job training sessions
- Contribute to the development of skills and knowledge in heavy commercial vehicle mechanical technology
- Collaborate with the Workshop and Fleet team to achieve business objectives
You will complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology course at Shellharbour TAFE. You must meet the admission requirements for this course and be willing to commit to the apprenticeship program.
Benefits:After completing the apprenticeship, you will have formal qualifications and four years of practical experience. This may lead to additional tickets such as Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence, forklift ticket, loader competency and more.
Professional Development:The Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to grow Council's skilled workforce by creating job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialised roles. As a participant, you will receive ongoing training, guidance and support from workplace mentors while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

We Offer:- Temporary Full-time position up to 4 years
- 38 hours per week with a 9 Day fortnight
