Bushfire Mitigation District Leadership Role

The successful candidate will lead the planning and execution of bushfire mitigation strategies across the district, including risk assessments, prioritisation, options assessment, and evaluation of residual risk.

They will also oversee the management and mentoring of Bushfire Mitigation Officers and First Nations staff to ensure brigades and partners are supported in the delivery of bushfire mitigation activities.

In addition, the role involves managing the Fire Warden network across the district, overseeing appointments, induction, training, and dispute resolution, and ensuring Fire Wardens are appropriately supported and equipped to undertake the role.

The Manager will work closely with the Bushfire Mitigation Unit to identify, implement, and evaluate strategies to enhance the Permit to Light Fire system's functionality.

Requirements:
  • Meet mandatory requirements and attributes outlined in the generic Rural Fire Service Inspector role description
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders from rural and remote communities
