About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at New Horizons. As a key member of our Inclusion Team, you will play a vital role in providing psycho-social support services to individuals with mental health and addiction issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Support and Guidance: Offer psycho-social support services that focus on client empowerment, hope, and belief in recovery from addiction.
  • Liaise and Collaborate: Work closely with customers, families, and community mental health staff to achieve clinical goals.
  • Comprehensive Understanding: Possess a thorough understanding of person-centered services and contemporary mental health interventions, programs, and treatments.
  • Support and Engage: Support customers to explore their practical and complex needs, demonstrating the ability to engage, interact, and work with diverse individuals.
  • Record and Manage: Accurately record customer behaviors, needs, and interactions using online systems, and complete comprehensive risk management plans.
  • Develop Relationships: Develop and maintain professional relationships and networks with customers, families, caregivers, and key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Experience and Knowledge: Possess experience working with people with alcohol and drug addiction, and knowledge of mental illness, preferably with experience working with complex mental health cases.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrate technical literacy with Microsoft Office and systems for reporting.
  • Qualifications and Certifications: Hold a minimum Cert IV in Mental Health, AOD, or community-related studies, and possess a valid NSW Drivers C-class license.
  • Additional Requirements: Be willing to obtain an Australian Federal Police Check, WWCC, and NDIS Worker Check prior to commencing employment.
