Senior Officer Position

About the Position

The Senior Officer is in command of the ship, safety and security of her cargo, crew and environment. The role involves:

  • Implementation of policies on matters of safety, security, operation and environmental protection;
  • Ensuring commercial considerations do not take precedence over safety and environmental protection;
  • Allocating tasks or duties to their crew for the safe and efficient operation of the ship;
  • Making decisions with respect to the safety of the ship, the crew, passengers and with respect to pollution prevention.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulations and Company policies;
  • Manage and allocate resources efficiently;
  • Co-ordinate with other departments to achieve business objectives;
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency;
  • Lead by example and promote a positive work culture;
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address them;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers and colleagues;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business strategies;
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge;

Requirements:

  • Master COC/COR Unlimited; Education Requirement: As per Marine Order 71; Technical Requirement: minimum 5 years sea time as a Chief Officer; STCW regulation II/2; MSIC Card; ECDIS and GMDSS; Certificate of Safety Training; Australian Citizen or hold a valid working visa without working restrictions;
  • Living in an Australian state; Pilotage Exemption Certificate for Cape Preston; Be able to wear a respirator on deck;
