
Senior Governance Specialist

The Senior Legal Specialist position involves providing strategic legal guidance on governance, compliance, risk, and regulatory matters within the Community Bank model and Franchise Agreements.
Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct and other statutory/regulatory obligations related to the Community Bank model. This includes advising Bendigo Bank and its franchisees on obligations under franchise agreements and supporting governance, compliance, risk, and regulatory matters across ACCC, ASIC, APRA, AFCA, and related areas, including assets sales and acquisitions.
As a qualified lawyer with 7-10+ years PQE, you will have a strong understanding of the Franchising Code of Conduct (or ability to quickly learn), Corporations Law, and other statutory/regulator requirements in the Community Bank model. You will also have an understanding of legislative impacts from a government perspective and demonstrated legal experience, ideally within Banking, Finance, Franchising, regulatory, or compliance sectors.
To succeed in this role, you will need sound knowledge of general banking practices, negotiation, leadership, and influencing skills. You will also be able to demonstrate broad knowledge of company structures and local company frameworks.
