We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Hunter New England. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, working alongside other Consultants, registrars, and junior medical staff.

The role offers a unique opportunity to live and work in Newcastle, a stunning east coast location with a temperate climate and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. Our region is renowned for its pristine beaches, lakeside parks, walking paths, bike tracks, and scenic National Parks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care directly to patients, families, and carers
  • Participate in the on-call psychiatrist roster for after-hours telephone advice
  • Lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams
  • Support and mentor junior medical staff
About the Team

You will be part of a dynamic service that supports all staff through opportunities for education, research, and maintaining a good work-life balance. We have a reputation for providing comprehensive training programs, including Psychiatry training led by experienced clinicians.

Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Able to participate in on-call rosters and provide high-quality patient care
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
