Job Description

We are seeking a Community Safety Specialist to join our team at HOBAN.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to make a real difference in their community by upholding local standards and ensuring public safety and environmental health.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting patrols, responding to inquiries, and enforcing council regulations in a dynamic and growing area known for its strong community ties, diverse natural landscapes, and commitment to sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections, respond to inquiries, and maintain Council's standards, whether it's through managing animal control or addressing environmental and building compliance.
  • Undertake patrols and investigate complaints.
  • As an authorised officer, you'll have the authority to issue penalty notices, enforce regulations, and undertake inspections across various areas, including parking, development sites, and more.
  • Investigate complaints on matters ranging from animal control to illegal dumping.
  • Prepare evidence, keep detailed records, and, if required, represent the Council in court on regulatory matters.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated experience in local government regulatory services, ideally with a strong grasp of legislation such as the Local Government Act 1993 and Companion Animals Act 1998.
  • Resilience, excellent communication abilities, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Confidently manage animals in line with council regulations, investigating and addressing complaints related to animal control.
