Therapeutic Youth Worker

**ABOUT US**
Pegasus Community Care has been a staffing specialist for the Community Services Sector since 2002.
We have been successful in the contract to provide HR and Staffing solutions to the Department of Communities and Justice (Sherwood Program) and have multiple opportunities available for dedicated Therapeutic Youth Workers (Trauma Specialists) to join our team.
We are currently looking for people who can commit to permanent, permanent part time or casual employment for regular hours supporting children/young people in out of home care.
**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for creating a healing environment through the provision of trauma informed care to children and young people residing in out of home care.
The aim of the programme is to successfully set the children/young people up to transition to an appropriate living environment in the future. Future support environments would be funded under NDIS framework, that Pegasus Community Care has established.
The programme is based on the ARC Model of Care and the work consists of supporting children/young people under child safety orders in a Trauma Recovery Programme environment. You work with children/young people to assist them recognise AND work through their trauma and at the same time keep them safe. Additional to the trauma the children have experienced, most participants of the programme have mental health issues and/or a disability and the needs associated with these conditions are required to be addressed, supported and worked through.
**ABOUT YOU**
To be considered for this position, you will hold a **minimum** qualification of a Diploma in Youth, or a Community Services related field. You must have demonstrated experience working with children and young people in out of home care and you will have an understanding of the Legislation relevant to the role.
Due to the nature of the role, you will have experience in working with children and young people in accommodation with high and complex needs. You will need to be empathetic and resilient, whilst maintaining assertiveness and confidence in your abilities as well as maintaining a high level of self-care.
Additionally you need to have highly developed communication skills (both written and verbal), good interpersonal skills, crisis-management knowledge and intermediate computer skills. Disability and Mental Health experience will also be highly regarded.

- Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
- The required NDIS Orientation Modules
