About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Culinary Professional to support our Head Chef in a dynamic kitchen environment.

This is a full-time role on a rotating roster, requiring exceptional leadership and communication skills.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, with experience working in fast-paced commercial kitchens.

Key responsibilities include assisting the Executive Chef in planning food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, ensuring food quality, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef: Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities.
  • Supervise Kitchen Staff: Coordinate team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain Quality Standards: Ensure consistency and presentation of dishes meet expectations.
  • Inventory Management: Help manage ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
  • Kitchen Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen according to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Training and Development: Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
  • Menu Development: Assist with creating new menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Leadership: Handle kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Profitability: Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profitability.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have formal culinary training or relevant certifications, in-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.

You must have excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

A strong attention to detail and commitment to quality are essential, along with previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role.

  • Culinary Experience: Proven experience working in fast-paced commercial kitchens.
  • Certifications: Formal culinary training or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Cooking Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Availability: Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
