Job Overview:

MGI Australia Pty Ltd is a leading life science company focused on R&D, production and sales of DNA sequencing instruments, reagents, and related products. We seek an experienced Biotechnologist to join our team in Brisbane.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research into pulse genetics and genomics using high-throughput genotyping DNA/RNA sequencing techniques
  • Maintain and operate key platform technologies for laboratory data generation and analysis
  • Ensure biosafety and information security compliance in the laboratory
  • Monitor and report scientific progress to maintain quality assurance and control standards
  • Design and set up laboratory equipment for experiments
  • Develop new research procedures
  • Collect, study and test samples
  • Manage multiple research projects, including project planning and execution
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments to implement workflow changes and facilitate technology transfer

Requirements:

  • A degree in Biological Engineering/Science or equivalent qualification
  • At least two years' experience in a biological molecular genetics laboratory or relevant field
  • Knowledge and experience in genetics and genomics, particularly next-generation sequencing and high-throughput genotyping
  • Practical experience in performing second- and third-generation sequencing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to follow policies and practices, as well as understand quality management system requirements
