Senior Research Scientist

This project is focused on the discovery of novel antibiotics sourced from microbial isolates obtained from soil and other ecosystems.
We are seeking a researcher to collaborate with experts in natural products chemistry, microbial genomics, and bioinformatics to identify and characterise novel compounds that target bacterial cell wall biosynthesis.
Key Responsibilities- Research Program Development: Establish a research program, collaborating on projects, securing funding, publishing research, and participating in discussions.
- Microbe Cultivation and Isolation: Cultivate, isolate, taxonomically characterise, and cryopreserve soil microbes.
- Natural Product Analysis: Analytically cultivate microbes, chemically and biologically profile microbial solvent extracts, fractions, and pure natural products.
- Purification of Natural Products: Purify natural products using HPLC, spectroscopic analysis, and structure elucidation.
- Genomics Analysis: Conduct genomics analyses, including BGC mining, comparative genomics, and genome assembly.
- Team Supervision: Supervise students, recruit employees, provide performance feedback, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
