Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead our high-voltage projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technical project outcomes.

This role involves stakeholder management, cost control, and design governance, ensuring all deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

As a Design Manager, you will direct primary and secondary design, conduct design reviews, and collaborate with external consultants on electrical studies.

You will be responsible for managing design expenditures using robust tracking systems to optimize budgets and prevent overruns.

About the Role
  • Design management: Leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality technical project outcomes on time.
  • Stakeholder management: Liaising with client, internal, and external teams to ensure alignment and integration of design solutions.
  • Cost management: Monitoring and controlling design expenditures to optimize budgets and prevent overruns.
  • Design governance: Ensuring all deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards through effective QA processes.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager on major energy infrastructure projects (HV/EHV substations).
  • Primary design engineering experience.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering).
  • CPEng or working towards it.
  • Membership (or eligibility) with a relevant engineering body.
