As a Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in contributing to a world without housing poverty. This position involves delivering high-quality tenancy and property management services for vulnerable individuals and families.
About the RoleThe key responsibilities of this role include:
- Carrying out property inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Allocating vacant properties to eligible applicants, taking into account their specific needs and circumstances.
- Collecting rent payments and chasing arrears in a fair and respectful manner.
- Preparing condition reports to document the state of properties before and after tenancies.
- Conducting lease and rent reviews to ensure fair and equitable outcomes for all parties involved.
- Coordinating exit procedures to ensure a smooth transition for tenants leaving our properties.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people in our community.
- Demonstrated experience in providing client-focused tenancy management services.
- A solid understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and its implications for housing providers.
- Relevant skills and experience in working sensitively with diverse customer groups, including those who are experiencing housing crisis.
- Confidence in liaising with various stakeholders, including vulnerable individuals and external agencies.
- A strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a caring and empathetic nature.
- Previous experience working on MS Office programs and ability to compose professional correspondence via email.
- Previous experience working in the social/community housing industry is highly desirable.
