Senior Animal Care Specialist

A Senior Animal Care Specialist is sought to lead our team in delivering exceptional animal services and support to our research projects.
About the Role:We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to oversee all aspects of our animal facility, providing technical assistance to science and research activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for inducting and training staff, contractors and students to ensure they are appropriately skilled to undertake duties in the LAF.
- Conduct animal husbandry procedures and collect biological samples from animals carrying infectious diseases.
- Liaise with scientific staff to ensure the LAF supports scientific projects through project inception, management and delivery.
- Maintain high levels of animal welfare through innovation and compliance with Animal Ethics Committee protocols.
- High level of scientific knowledge and competence in animal sciences and care.
- Post-qualification and career-based experience working with a range of species.
- Thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
