About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Harris Geospatial Solutions. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex embedded software applications, participating in the entire software development lifecycle, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop modular, readable, and robust code for embedded systems, adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ 17.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems engineering, agile development, review, testing, integration, and verification.
  • Collaborate effectively with software and other engineering disciplines, as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements.
  • Mentor less experienced software engineers and help them develop good software development and debugging skills.
  • Write and maintain internal and deliverable documentation, either directly or through supervision of contractors.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing as required.
  • Participate in demo activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.
Requirements
  • Degree in Software, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Extensive experience in similar roles.
  • Experience architecting complex software for embedded systems, adhering to requirements, with a structured verification approach.
  • Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ bare metal or with RTOS, working with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Desirable Requirements
  • An existing NV1 Security clearance.
  • Ability to read and review schematics, identify issues with hardware designs from a software development viewpoint, and make recommendations on HW designs.
  • Experience developing custom peripheral interfaces on programmable logic.
  • Experience with complex algorithm design on programmable logic with space constraints.
  • Experience with Python or another scripting language for the purposes of emulation of hardware or software verification.
  • Experience using the Xilinx Zynq SoCs.
  • Experience in developing firmware in VHDL and/or Verilog for FPGAs.
  • Experience in developing software to adhere to protocol standards.
  • Experience in developing mission-critical software.
