The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer who will be responsible for architecting and developing embedded software applications, and participating in the entire software development life cycle. Candidates are required to have a good knowledge base of engineering principles, theories, and techniques and a passion for relevant new technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for large and complex areas of the software architecture for multiple software systems.
  • Ownership of software development schedule and reporting to project/customer stakeholders.
  • Develop modular, readable, and robust code for defense systems adhering to security and functional requirements in C++ 17.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, systems engineering, agile development, review, testing, integration, and verification.
  • Presenting design details during customer reviews to a mix of participants with and without software engineering knowledge.
  • Collaborate effectively with both software and other engineering disciplines as well as management, to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements as efficiently as possible.
  • Mentor less experienced software engineers and help them develop good software development and debugging skills.
  • Write and maintain both internal and deliverable documentation, either directly or through supervision of contractors.
  • Provide Engineering support to manufacturing as required.
  • Participate in demo activities for the purpose of sharing knowledge.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Software, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Extensive experience in similar role.
  • Experience architecting complex software for embedded systems, adhering to requirements, with a structured verification approach.
  • Experience in developing software for microcontrollers in C++ bare metal or with RTOS, working with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to development processes.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
