Job Title: Senior Policy Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Officer to join our Policy, Reform and Legislation Branch. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of law, government functions, and the legislative process.

The Policy, Reform and Legislation Branch contributes to the development of policy for the justice system and delivers government reform priorities, including complex legislative reform projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze complex legislative and justice policy issues to identify emerging trends, develop evidence-based options, and recommend solutions.
  • Provide expert policy advice and information to relevant stakeholders to facilitate the development and implementation of key legislative and justice system reforms.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to inform decision-making and contribute to the identification and development of policy solutions.
Requirements
  • A law degree or equivalent is essential, along with sound knowledge of Commonwealth and State law, government functions, and the legislative process.
  • Strong research and analysis skills, advanced verbal and written communication skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and integrity and professionalism are also required.
