Key Roles and Responsibilities

The Senior Environmental Policy Advisor is a pivotal role within the Department of Communities and Justice, focusing on managing and developing planning, environmental, and heritage statutory requirements and functions.

This opportunity allows for the implementation and monitoring of plans to ensure facilities comply with relevant legislation. You will have the chance to elevate your skills and contribute to policy development, processes, and procedures in environmental and heritage fields.

Key responsibilities involve coordinating heritage and planning applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and government policies, while also initiating projects based on current planning, heritage, and environment policy.

  • Providing expert guidance on statutory requirements for environmental and heritage matters.
  • Developing and contributing to environmental and heritage policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Managing external advice regarding planning, heritage, and environmental issues.
  • Assisting in maintaining Conservation and Heritage registers.
  • Monitoring capital works projects for compliance with heritage legislation.
Essential Qualifications and Skills

Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in heritage, environment, or planning are required.
