Academic Guidance Lead

The University of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled Academic Guidance Lead to join our Rural Clinical Unit. This is a teaching-focused position that will play a crucial role in supporting students throughout their Doctor of Medicine program.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialized academic advice to students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program at the Rural Clinical Unit.
- Enhance the progression of students through each of the four years of the MD program, including academic guidance, remediation, pastoral care, career guidance, and extension activities.
- Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship.
- Supervise and develop student capability and skill.
- Contribute to the RCU and Learning Community, demonstrating behaviors that align with the UQ values.
- Medical qualification and a General Practice Specialist or non-GP Specialist qualification, with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
- Experience in student support and/or clinical supervision of medical students, with demonstrated skills in education at undergraduate, postgraduate, and/or professional levels.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and knowledge of medical education.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, establish effective relationships, and manage disparate interests in an academic environment.
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and external partners.
- A commitment to and understanding of the issues surrounding living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
