The Role

We are seeking an experienced Agronomy Manager to join our team and assist in continuing to improve our farming system. As a key member of our farm services team, you will be responsible for managing compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, as well as providing support, guidance, and direction to staff, farm managers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures in your work area
  • Organise and carry out the collection of required samples, interpret, and make recommendations based on results and knowledge
  • Advise directors and farm managers on techniques for improving crop production, tree health, controlling disease, pests, and weeds, as well as nutrition improvements and management
  • Maintain a recording system for nutrition and spray applications
  • Schedule chemical and nutrition applications based on results and recommendations
  • Liaise with suppliers from chemical and fertiliser companies to order and maintain relevant stock
  • Evaluate information gained from library trays and pack out data to maintain or improve fruit quality for each block
  • Organise and manage weekly monitoring of pest and disease in avocados and mangoes
  • Research and implement new techniques and management systems for improving post-harvest quality, orchard health, and yield
  • Engage and work with consultants to improve orchard productivity, tree health, and fruit quality
  • Maintain an understanding of current research and aid in implementing new production techniques in the business
  • Write reports as required to support directors and other managers in the business
  • Manage and develop individuals within the agronomy team
  • Work closely with and as part of the management team to improve orchard productivity, tree health, and fruit quality

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in agronomy, proven knowledge and experience in avocados, macadamias, mangoes, or citrus production. Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are essential for this role, as you will be managing an established farm team.
