About the Role

The University of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled Academic Guidance Lead to join our team in the Rural Clinical School. This is a part-time, fixed-term position that will play a crucial role in supporting students throughout their Doctor of Medicine program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Academic Guidance: Provide specialized academic advice and support to students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program, utilizing a 'step-care approach' to foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging.
  • Leadership and Support: Offer high-quality academic leadership and support to enhance the progression of students through each year of the MD program, including academic guidance, remediation, pastoral care, career guidance, and extension activities.
  • Research and Scholarship: Maintain personal academic standing by pursuing research and scholarship, contributing to the advancement of medical education.
  • Supervision and Development: Demonstrate effectiveness in supervision and management, developing student capability and skill.
  • Citizenship and Service: Consistently demonstrate behaviors that align with the University's values, contributing proactively and respectfully to the Rural Clinical School and Learning Community.
About You

We are seeking a candidate with a medical qualification and a General Practice Specialist or non-GP Specialist qualification, with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia. The ideal candidate will have experience in student support and/or clinical supervision of medical students, as well as demonstrated skills in education at undergraduate, postgraduate, and/or professional levels.

The successful candidate will possess high-level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and external partners, as well as a commitment to and understanding of the issues surrounding living and working in a rural and/or regional area.
