Job Opportunity

The Communication Officer will develop and implement innovative communication products, activities, and events that align with the priorities of the delegation.

The successful candidate will oversee communication strategies, plans of action, monitoring, reporting, and related tasks. They will be responsible for communication activities in Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote the ICRC's work and build National Red Cross / Red Crescent Society capacity.
  • Implement relevant projects and develop tools for operational communication, community engagement, promoting international humanitarian law (IHL), public and digital communication, networking and engagement, information analysis, and resource mobilization.
  • Identify, conceptualize, create, and coordinate content collection and produce communication materials, including web editorial, audio-visual, social media posts, photo galleries, videos, and news releases.
  • Organize events, exhibitions, and promote the ICRC and its key contexts.
  • Support training and coaching for Regional Delegation staff on communication-related skills.
  • Maintain and improve networks of relationships related to matters of interest to the ICRC.
Requirements
  • University degree or equivalent in a field such as communications, political science, international relations, or journalism.
  • Minimum 3 years' work experience in a field relevant to communication and prevention.
  • Strong understanding of the ICRC's work and the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, networking, organizational, and computer skills, including familiarity with digital communication tools.
