About the Role

HE Space is seeking a highly skilled Science and Infrastructure Facilitation Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination, planning, development, and implementation of the CMIP data archiving and dissemination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide facilitation support and management of relevant CMIP and WIP task teams and joint activities with the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF);
  • Offer communication support to CMIP data infrastructure activities and engage with relevant communities;
  • Promote equity and inclusivity in CMIP data access;
  • Organize and facilitate infrastructure-relevant meetings, workshops, conferences, training sessions, and other activities relevant to CMIP;
  • Reach out to relevant wider communities such as PANGEO, Copernicus, and other emerging communities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in physical or climate sciences or any other appropriate scientific field;
  • At least three years of relevant work experience;
  • Expertise in scientific or data infrastructure project and program management and facilitation;
  • Experience with coding languages including Python, C, or Fortran;
  • Expertise in working in an international environment with globally distributed teams;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills;
  • Proficiency in English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • PhD in climate science, particularly climate modeling;
  • Qualification in project or program management;
  • Experience working with climate models and climate data, including familiarity with CMIP;
  • Experience in science communication and outreach.
