Job Title: Income Support Delegate

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Income Support Delegate to join our team. As an Income Support Delegate, you will play a critical role in delivering the Government's social policy and support agenda to eligible veterans and their families.

The Income Support Branch (ISB) is responsible for providing quality and timely services, ensuring an appropriate level of income support to those who need it most. As an Income Support Delegate, you will be part of a dynamic team that works together to achieve this goal.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Investigate complex casework matters, exercising delegations as appropriate, and investigate ministerial requests, fraud referrals, and complaints.
  • Provide specialist advice to managers, answer complex enquiries from the veteran community, and liaise with external and internal stakeholders on Income Support matters.
  • Comply with DVA record keeping and operational reporting requirements under direction from the Team Leader and senior staff.
  • Adhere to individual Work Force Manager (WFM) schedule to ensure adequate telephone coverage through the full range of income support business hours.
  • Participate in training, e-learning, team briefs, workshops, and other change activities, when required.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical advice to other team members.
  • Actively participate in the Performance Feedback Process and IS Coaching sessions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Australian citizenship is required for employment in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • Applicants must successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance, conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in the public sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and model the behaviours of the APS Code of Conduct.
