Lead Carpenter Position

Alder Group brings together engineering and construction teams to deliver projects. This unique opportunity is for a skilled tradesperson or 4th year apprentice ready to step into a leadership role. As a Lead Carpenter, you will support the delivery of remedial and renewal construction projects.

This position involves supervising daily site activities under the Site Manager or Foreman. You will execute carpentry tasks including structural repairs, timber framing, cladding, and finish work. Ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and team coordination across various sites are essential responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily site activities under the Site Manager or Foreman.
  • Execute carpentry tasks including structural repairs, timber framing, cladding, and finish work.
  • Ensure quality workmanship, safety compliance, and team coordination.
  • Maintain accurate site records and contribute to project reporting.
  • Support onboarding and mentoring of apprentices and labourers.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, site inspections, and incident investigations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Trade qualification in Carpentry (Cert III or higher).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial or remedial construction preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with QA, Safety, and Environmental systems.
  • Proficiency with site management tools and mobile apps.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
