Correctional Officer Job Overview

This Correctional Officer role is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of prisoners and contribute to their rehabilitation. You will work as part of a team responsible for the safe, secure, and humane management of prisoners.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment. They will also possess a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Correctional Officer. Additionally, they will hold a full Northern Territory driver's licence and be able to meet the Chief Health Officer's COVID-19 Directions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and rehabilitate prisoners in custody
  • Mentor prisoners to become responsible community members
  • Deliver services that enable prisoners to improve their lives and reintegrate back into the community
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Certificate III in Correctional Practice (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Correctional Officer
  • Full Northern Territory driver's licence
  • Able to meet the Chief Health Officer's COVID-19 Directions
