About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Legal Counsel to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting MECCA Brands Pty Ltd's growth by providing expertise in consumer law, managing customer complaints, overseeing competitions and events, supporting loyalty programs, managing intellectual property, and assisting with marketing clearances and commercial contracting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and advise on consumer law obligations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support in relation to customer queries and complaints, implementing process improvements to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of competitions, giveaways, and events, ensuring legal compliance and risk management.
  • Support the development and maintenance of MECCA's loyalty program, including reviewing terms and conditions and associated materials.
  • Assist with intellectual property and trademark matters, including infringement cases, applications, licences, and oppositions.
  • Identify potential issues in marketing materials and assist with clearance reviews, ensuring brand integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including services agreements, talent agreements, contractor agreements, and NDAs.
  • Provide ad-hoc legal support to the business, identifying opportunities for process improvement and enhancing operational efficiency.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor of Laws or equivalent qualification to practise law in Australia.
  • A current unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
  • 2-3 years post-admission experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in consumer law and related areas, with experience dealing with key issues and regulations.
  • Skill in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, including services agreements and contracts.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
