As a medical documentation specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting healthcare providers during patient visits to accurately document assessments and exams. Your primary responsibility will be to record patient history, physical exams, assessments, diagnostic results, medical procedures, treatment plans, medical opinions of consultants, diagnoses, medication/prescription information, and follow-up instructions.
- Accompany providers during patient visits to assist in documenting the provider assessment and exam
- Document patient history, physical exams, assessments, diagnostic results, medical procedures, treatment plans, medical opinions of consultants, diagnoses, medication/prescription information, and follow-up instructions
- Navigate electronic health records and medical software systems with ease
- Monitor pending lab results and radiology orders for accuracy and completeness
- Review past medical history and test results on patients to inform medical decisions
- Maintain accurate and detailed records while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry standards
- No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided
- Commit to a minimum of 6 months to ensure adequate skill development
- Be flexible to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
