We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to support the educational programs and promote a supportive learning environment for students with special needs.

Merredin College is a rural school providing a high-quality educational program for approximately 600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

  • School Overview:
  • We cater for a broad range of students, including those with disabilities, offering targeted interventions and various educational pathways.
  • Our students live in the Merredin township, travel from nearby towns, or reside at Merredin Residential College.

The Role:

  • A Special Needs Education Assistant will assist under teacher direction in education programs and help create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Education assistants will assist students to reach their full potential through developing their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills, including using computers and digital technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process related to achieving educational goals.
  • Collaborate with staff members to meet student needs.
  • Possess knowledge and experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, supporting student growth academically and socially within the classroom setting.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, interacting with students, parents, and teaching professionals regarding educational programs and assisting teachers in understanding students when necessary.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, working as part of a team evaluating educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where implemented.
