Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Driver Trainer/Compliance Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all infield compliance activities, including Chain of Responsibility, Verification of Competency, and other Driver Training activities.

You will train and assess drivers across a variety of vehicles, conduct risk assessments on site and customer sites, and develop, implement, and monitor best practice policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

This is an autonomous role that requires strong interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills. You will work closely with National Heavy Vehicle Regulation (NHVR) officers to meet compliance obligations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct training programs for drivers, including group and one-on-one sessions
  • Ensure drivers are inducted and trained in safety processes, including the safe operation of equipment
  • Assess driver competencies as part of pre-employment checks and re-assess current drivers to comply with business requirements and standards
  • Participate in the investigation of any driver incidents and implement corrective actions
  • Provide training and competency review of load restraint activities
  • Coordinate and deliver training to enhance understanding and effectiveness of risk management, safety leadership, hazard reduction, and continuous improvement
Requirements
  • Transport industry experience is essential for this role
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, Compliance, Safety, Risk, and Audit
  • Experience working with third-party service providers and implementing/enforcing practices or procedures
  • Understanding of National Heavy Vehicle regulations, standards, practices, and policies
  • Practical understanding of CoR and operational understanding of Risk and Risk Principles
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills
