Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our team in Smithfield. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing operation and efficiency of machinery used in the manufacturing process.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role focused on both pre-planned and reactive maintenance of key plant and equipment. You will be reporting to the Maintenance Manager and working collaboratively with the production team to support operational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant machinery
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and fault-finding to minimize production downtime
  • Service and repair motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, and hydraulic systems
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment when required
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety standards
Requirements
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent
  • Proven experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, including motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, and hydraulics
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Sound fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Commitment to safe work practices and procedures
