Technical Leadership Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to oversee the technical direction of a nation-shaping maritime program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding whole-of-platform engineering, bringing cross-functional teams together, and ensuring designs are integrated, safe, and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior technical leadership and design authority across multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Drive systems engineering best practice across the lifecycle, ensuring designs are integrated, verified, and fit for purpose.
  • Lead design governance and reviews, manage risk/issue resolution, and champion safety and certification outcomes.
  • Oversee configuration/change control and ensure high-quality engineering plans, processes, and documentation.
  • Engage confidently with customers, primes, and internal stakeholders to align priorities and clear blockers.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in complex systems engineering (maritime/defence/regulated industries ideal) with proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Track record guiding platform-level integration, assurance, and delivery in high-consequence environments.
  • Deep understanding of systems engineering and verification/validation; comfortable with design governance and change control.
  • Clear communicator who builds trust with executives, customers, and delivery teams.
  • Degree in Engineering (Chartered/Registered highly regarded).
