Director of Inpatient Surgical Services

The Director of Inpatient Surgical Services is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of high-quality inpatient surgical care and services.

This role requires a collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the provision of optimal patient outcomes and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements strategic plans to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders, managers, program staff, and physicians to set realistic goals, targets, standards, and outcomes.
  • Responds to complex, sensitive, and/or contentious issues and queries to ensure patient care service needs are met.
  • Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Provides leadership in standardized approaches and processes within the program, including admission and discharge practices, bed utilization, team communication, documentation, and the development and use of patient care pathways.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages would be considered an asset.
  • Innovative approach to handling change.
  • Highly developed critical thinking skills and the ability to conceptualize and analyze problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to make quality and innovative decisions based on data.
