Job Description

Job Title: Transport Operations Manager

Job Summary:

GKR Transport is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of yard operational activities, ensuring the prompt and safe delivery of freight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Forklift Drivers: Oversee the safe and efficient operation of forklifts, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Coordination Assistance with Linehaul: Assist in the coordination of linehaul activities, ensuring timely and efficient movement of freight.
  • Movement of Trucks and Trailers: Coordinate the movement of trucks and trailers around the depot, ensuring optimal space utilization.
  • Receipt of Freight: Oversee the receipt of freight, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Dispatch Coordination: Coordinate the dispatch of freight, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, implementing safety initiatives as needed.
  • Depot Layout and Storage: Optimize depot layout and storage methods to maximize space utilization.
  • Communication: Arrange and coordinate day-to-day communication within the business.
  • Manifesting: Accurately manifest trailers loads.
  • Driver Paperwork: Manage driver paperwork, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Data Entry: Enter customer data into online systems.
  • Support to Schedulers: Assist schedulers via email and phone calls.
  • Other Department Support: Assist in other departments as required.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures implemented by the company.
  • Fleet and Equipment Service Coordination: Coordinate service for Melbourne-based fleet and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a leadership role.
  • Customer Service: Experience in customer service in the transport industry.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Manifesting Experience: Manifesting experience desirable.
  • MC Driving Experience: At least 2 years' experience driving MC with an unrestricted license (highly desirable).
  • Forklift License: Forklift license is mandatory.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills.
  • Administrative and Planning Skills: Strong administrative and planning skills.
  • Pre-Employment Examination and Police Check: Willingness to undergo a pre-employment examination and police check.
  • High Volume Environment: Able to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Positive Attitude: Possess a positive can-do attitude.
