Job Overview

The role of an Education Support Class (ES) employee is to perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with established guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction.

This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program. Key responsibilities will involve providing routine clerical or administrative support, maintaining data in schools IT systems, supporting the preparation of internal and external communication, and sourcing basic data to support school administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support to teachers and staff
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases
  • Preparing and distributing communication materials
  • Sourcing information from various sources

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position
  • Capacity to provide advice and support to management and staff

Role Development:

An ES employee at this range will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks under close supervision and direction. As experience in the role is gained, employees may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications and/or certifications up to three years can be required
  • Sound knowledge of basic technical and scientific principles
  • Ability to make judgements where clear guidelines and limited options exist

Working Environment:

Employees in this role will work in a school environment, supporting the educational services provided to students. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups, but responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
