Senior Network Engineer Job Description

This role is part of the AIR 6500 program, a joint air battle management system initiative.

The successful candidate will have expertise in designing and implementing complex network architectures, as well as experience with software-defined networking, network management systems, and routing, switching, and firewall technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement network solutions aligned with AIR 6500 requirements and technology strategy
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather, clarify, and document business and technical requirements
  • Contribute to the design, creation, implementation, and maintenance of network security solutions, including firewalls, load balances, virtual appliances, VPNs, and cloud-native routing and switching technologies
  • Set up and configure Software Defined Networking solutions
  • Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and System Architects to guide hardware requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications, experience, or certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE)
  • Awareness of Security frameworks, governance, and compliance (e.g., ISM, DSPF, and PSPF)
  • Excellent analysis skills with an ability to develop and evaluate alternatives to determine best value based on customer-provided performance weighting
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including both speaking and listening to the customer
