Job Title: In-House Counsel Partner

At a leading food and beverage company, we are seeking an experienced and motivated in-house counsel partner to join our team. As a senior legal advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the organization meets its regulatory obligations while enabling agile decision-making and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the embedded legal partner to commercial, operations, and supply chain teams, providing timely and actionable advice on a wide range of business initiatives.
  • Support new product development and market launches with regulatory and legal oversight from ideation through to shelf.
  • Advise on day-to-day operational issues, including product claims, marketing and communications, intellectual property rights and protection, customer complaints, distribution issues, retailer negotiations, and licensing queries.
  • Evaluate and manage risk in manufacturing, product formulation, and recalls.
  • Craft and negotiate commercial contracts, including supply agreements, co-manufacturing contracts, third-party logistics (3PL), sales terms with major retailers, promotional agreements, and marketing partnerships.
Requirements:
  • Australian qualified lawyer with 5+ years of post-admission experience, preferably with in-house experience in food & beverage or broader FMCG sectors.
  • Deep working knowledge of food regulation, labelling, consumer law, and commercial contracting in the Australian context.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams and influencing operational decision-making.
  • Skilled in managing risk pragmatically and balancing commercial outcomes with compliance.
  • Commercial, hands-on, and solutions-focused Operationally savvy with experience supporting manufacturing or supply chain teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Able to manage competing priorities with calm, confidence, and good judgment Collaborative leadership style and high emotional intelligence
