About the role

The Ipswich City Council is seeking a skilled Community Development Officer to join their team. As a key member of the Community Wellbeing team, you will work closely with stakeholders to improve social and community wellbeing outcomes for young people in the Ipswich community.

Your experience in community development and working with young people will be essential in delivering outcomes in alignment with the council's strategic vision and Ipswich Community Development Strategy 2021-2026.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating key actions from the Ipswich Community Development Strategy 2021-2026 in collaboration with partners and key stakeholders
  • Coordinating the Ipswich Youth Advisory Council
  • Identifying local community needs through research, consultation, and identification of service gaps and facilitating appropriate initiatives to benefit the Ipswich community
  • Supporting and connecting local community centres to deliver impactful social programming
  • Ensuring projects and initiatives are delivered within frameworks
  • Collaborating with others across the council in the delivery of a broad program of work representing the interests and needs of young people and of the Ipswich community

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in Community/Youth/Human Services and/or an equivalent experience
  • Substantial experience in engaging effectively with young people of the community and other stakeholders in a meaningful way
  • Excellent communication skills building strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Current Queensland C Class driver's licence
  • Working with Children Check – Issue of Blue Card and Positive Notice Letter (issued by the Queensland Government) or Exemption Card

This is a permanent full-time position, Level 5 with a salary commencing at $93,169 plus 12.5% superannuation.
