About the Role

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunals.

The role requires legal officers to provide advice and recommendations to senior executives on a wide range of legal issues affecting clients and their funds in Court.

Key responsibilities include conducting legal research, verifying payments into and out of Court, interpreting relevant legislation and policies, and consulting with stakeholders on sensitive legal matters.

Legal officers will also draft and review orders, assist with policy development and maintenance, and ensure compliance with organisational and legislative requirements.

A minimum of two years post-admission experience is highly regarded. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of general practice and procedures of the Supreme Court of Victoria, as well as knowledge of relevant legislation affecting persons under a disability.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in general practice and procedures of the Supreme Court of Victoria
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation affecting persons under a disability including family law, trusts, deceased estates, real property, domestic building law and/or victims of crime
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and confidently argue complex concepts
