Home Care Assistants deliver essential services to clients residing in their own homes. Your role will involve providing exceptional care and support tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each elderly person, enabling them to maintain their independence at home.

As a Home Care Assistant, you will ensure superior customer service. You will follow the directives outlined in the Support Plan, which may include personal care, light housekeeping, and assistance with daily activities. Your mission is to provide services with kindness, respect, and dignity.

We seek proactive, energetic, and empathetic individuals to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
  • Support clients with personal care needs, including bathing, toileting, and feeding assistance.
  • Provide transportation assistance for clients to appointments, shopping, and recreational activities.
  • Establish and nurture strong, effective relationships with clients and their families.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both yourself and our clients.

Essential Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Aged Care, Community Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable vehicle with valid registration and minimal third-party insurance.
  • Experience in home care.
  • Current First Aid Certification.

You will possess

An understanding of and commitment to promoting the Christian values and ethos of The Salvation Army.

  • Motivation to work with elderly individuals in the community and an understanding of their needs and consumer-directed care.
  • Strong customer service orientation and effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and safely within a client's home.
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Computer literacy and experience with documentation.
