Project Overview
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University is seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team in the design and development of novel bioelectrocatalysis approaches for the production of green energy and green chemicals.
Research Focus
The successful candidate will work on the design and evaluation of enzyme-modified nanocarbon electrodes for energy production (hydrogen fuel cells, batteries) and/or green chemical production (producing C2+ chemicals from simple C1 feedstocks).
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop novel bioelectrocatalytic processes using a combination of experiments and computational analysis
- Work in an interdisciplinary team with chemical engineers, protein engineers, and electrochemists
- Conduct experiments and data analysis to evaluate the performance of enzyme-modified nanocarbon electrodes
- Collaborate with Monash staff and ARC COE-CSI collaborators to advance the development of next-generation green processes
Requirements
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents, or New Zealand Special Category Visa Holders
- Hold a Bachelor's H1 Honours Degree or already hold an H1E Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to conduct self-motivated research
