Key Responsibilities

The role of a Business Development Manager entails managing our most valuable merchant relationships as trusted advisors. They provide ongoing support, consultation, and industry expertise to drive retention through cross-selling Tyro products and solutions.

You will also be responsible for new business growth and onboarding of Enterprise merchants, exploring new industry verticals, deepening customer relationships, and accelerating the adoption of Tyro's omnichannel solutions.

This includes:

  • Owning growth targets (new business written) for the Enterprise portfolio—acquiring new merchants and expanding share.
  • Onboarding new Enterprise customers smoothly for a great first experience.
  • Growing existing accounts: building early trust, driving adoption, and cross/upselling to multiple decision makers.
  • Prospecting new verticals and crafting tailored go-to-market plays.
  • Driving omnichannel adoption across your account network.
  • Running ongoing discovery of merchant needs; translating into solutions by orchestrating Finance, CS, Product, Risk, Compliance, and Legal.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders; monitoring and reducing churn with data-led action plans.
  • Leading commercial negotiations (including rate analysis) to retain and expand accounts.
  • Identifying whitespace and partnering with Product to scope and deliver enhancements.
  • Analyzing portfolio performance and presenting insights/recommendations to customers.
  • Being the external face of Tyro's Business Development capability and lifting brand awareness with corporates.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years' Account Management experience, preferably with a payments or technology focus.
  • A strong grasp of the merchant acquiring and banking products.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, responsible, and accountable.
  • A thorough understanding of the various Tyro pricing models and product value propositions.
  • A strong negotiator able to persuade prospects on value.
  • Results-driven with demonstrated business acumen, delivering outcomes for both Tyro and its customers.
  • A strategic thinker able to help customers achieve their goals with the assistance of Tyro's Products.
  • Understanding the changing landscape of merchant acquiring and finding solutions using the Tyro Product suite to solve for merchants.
  • Being the face of Tyro at an Enterprise level, carrying themselves with professionalism at all times.
  • Being aware of competitor activity and calling necessary internal resources to defend from any loss of merchant.
